David Winkel is the founder and principal partner of D.Winkel & Co, a New York-based marketing and consumer research consultancy. He has worked on both the supplier and client sides of business building enterprises with 25 years experience covering every aspect of the marketing mix.

David held senior executive positions in marketing, strategic planning and market research for major consumer goods and service corporations in both Canada and the United States. Most recently, he was with Cosi, Inc serving there as Vice President of Marketing. He also held positions as Senior VP of Strategic Planning at Hardee’s and various roles in marketing at Imperial Tobacco, Ltd of Montreal. Between his tenures at Cosi and Hardee’s, David developed his first marketing consulting practice at MS&P, Inc, which later merged with Synovate, Inc--a top-ten global research firm.

Working with numerous domestic and foreign clients from the advertising, food, restaurant, beverage, banking, IT, telecommunications and tobacco industries, his client practice involves strategic brand development, marketing communications, service quality, local restaurant/store marketing (LSM), targeted direct and e-marketing, customer relationship management, promotions, brand and sales analysis, market research, operations and R&D new product development.

An experienced marketer, strategist, planner, consultant and moderator, with hands-on management expertise gives him a unique combination of skills to deliver results that are truly insightful, practical, actionable and relevant to executive decision-making anywhere around the world.

David holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from Concordia University in Montreal. He has completed Executive Business programs at the Wharton School of Business and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
